What is a Life-Cycle Celebrant & Why Should I Work With One?
A Life-Cycle Celebrant is a ceremony professional, trained by the Celebrant Foundation & Institute, who can perform weddings, funerals, and other milestones throughout the life-cycle.
As a Celebrant, we are trained in ceremony design and the blending of cultural and faith traditions. We create custom and personalized ceremonies based on your love story.
Your wedding ceremony is an incredibly special and personal milestone in your life and we believe that your love story should be celebrated the way that you and your partner envision. By choosing a Life-Cycle Celebrant, you are choosing to have a memorable, intimate and impactful ceremony.
Can You Incorporate Family and Cultural Traditions into Our Ceremony?
YES! Our favourite ceremonies include elements that make them uniquely yours. We look forward to hearing about your traditions and offering suggestions that will bring them to life.
Do You Offer LGBTQ+ Ceremonies?
Love is Love is LOVE! That’s all she wrote.
Are You An Ordained Minister?
Yes, Rev. Ev here! In Canada, the people who are able to perform marriages are Judges, Municipal Clerks and Clergy. All AMT Officiants fall under the clergy category and are ordained ministers with CIMM. We believe in openness, inclusivity, love and acceptance and encourage others to follow their own spiritual path.
When Should I Book an Officiant?
The earlier the better, but a good goal would be to book your wedding officiant no later than 8-12 months before your wedding date. Your ceremony is the main event of your wedding day and you deserve to enjoy a stress-free creation process.
If you happen to be closer to your date and find yourselves “officiant-less” don’t stress - we can work together to create a personal ceremony that you and your guests will remember for All Your Tomorrows...
How Do I Choose an Officiant?
Like many choices, go with what feels right! This is a very personal and important decision. Just as you spent time finding the person you want to spend the rest of your life with; I encourage you to choose an officiant you trust to bring your story to life. It is most important that you feel comfortable and happy throughout the process.
Planning a wedding is stressful, but creating your ceremony is the place where you reflect on why you love the amazing person you have chosen to share your life with. Your officiant’s role is to help you develop your ideas into a dynamic, personal and captivating ceremony.
Can You Get Our Marriage Licence For Us?
This is one thing we are not able to do for you. The only people who can acquire a marriage licence in Ontario are the two people whose names are on the licence. We will however help you figure out HOW to apply for and pick up your licence.
First things first, your marriage licence is valid for 3 months, so don’t apply too early.
When you are ready to apply go to this link: Apply For My Ottawa Marriage Licence
Scroll down to the Apply tab at the bottom of the page and click the link to fill out the application appointment request form.
NOTE: Make sure to review everything before you submit the form as this is the information that the clerk will use to create your Marriage Licence.
After you submit your application you will receive an email with an appointment date and time to pick up your licence.
IMPORTANT: The time they give you will be very specific and they are very strict with the time slot provided, so you must ensure that you arrive at City Hall on time. If you are late, you will simply be turned away and have to come back another day.
When you go to pick up your licence you can park at City Hall (you should be there for less than 30 minutes, so parking will cost no more than $3.00), you will EACH have to provide 2 pieces of valid ID and they must be the original copies ie. no photocopies.
Once you are with the clerk you will look over and sign your licence to ensure everything is correct and then you will be good to go!
The last step is to keep your licence, and anything else to do with your ceremony, in a box (I suggest a banker’s box) so that on your wedding day you will only have to remember to bring one thing. You already have enough to remember, so make it easy on yourselves!
